OnePlus 8 Pro - The flagship phone we wanted from OnePlus

We finally saw OnePlus announce the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro. With the lockdown making me feel so low, the launch event seemed to be the thing to keep things going. So let's quickly see what OnePlus has done to its new flagship phone apart from further increasing its price ($899).

The OnePlus 8 Pro doesn't feel all that different from its predecessor the OnePlus 7 Pro if we look at the specifications though there are 3 major inclusions that raise the bar this time around. Let's quickly take a look at the specifications.

To start with, the OnePlus 8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 865 processor with built-in support for 5G. It gets a gorgeous QHD+ (3168 x 1440 px) 120Hz Fluid AMOLED display. This display is brilliant with HDR 10+ compatibility and can reproduce over 1 billion colors and a color-accuracy of under 0.55 JNCD (Just noticeable color difference). The OnePlus 8 Pro comes in the following options: 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5 RAM; 128GB or 256GB non-expandable UFS 3.0 storage.

At the back we get a Quad-camera setup; Wide (main): Sony IMX689 48MP sensor, 1.12 µm pixels, OIS, EIS, f/1.78 aperture, all-pixel omnidirectional autofocus; Ultrawide: 48MP IMX586, f/2.2 aperture, 0.8 µm pixels, 119.7-degree field-of-view; Telephoto: 8MP sensor, f/2.44 aperture, 1.0 µm pixels, OIS; Color Filter camera: 5MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture. In the front, we don't have the pop-up selfie camera this time. We get 16MP Sony IMX471 (same as 7 Pro/7T Pro), fixed focus, 1.0 µm pixels, f/2.45 lens.

The OnePlus 8 Pro gets a bigger 4510 mAh battery with Warp Charge 30T. OnePlus has finally included Wrap wireless charging and is capable of fast reverse wireless charging. The OnePlus also gets official IP68 water and dust resistance rating. To conclude the phone has the usual Dual stereo speakers, optical in-display fingerprint scanner, and the physical notification switch.

With the inclusion of great cameras, fast wireless charging, and official IP68 water and dust resistance rating, the OnePlus 8 Pro should be a nice bet if you are willing to treat yourself with a flagship phone after the lockdown is over.
