Google is officially releasing Android 16 in June 2025, months ahead of its usual October schedule. This early rollout means users of select smartphones will get new features and design upgrades sooner than expected.
Who Gets Android 16 First?
Google Pixel devices will be the first to receive Android 16. Eligible models include:
Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a
Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
Pixel Fold
Pixel 9 series (9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a)
Samsung Galaxy devices are next in line:
Galaxy S25 series (S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge) will ship with Android 16 pre-installed.
Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and upcoming Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 (launching in July) will also get early access.
Galaxy S24 series (S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra) expected to receive the update by Q4 2025
Other brands like Vivo, Oppo, OnePlus, and Xiaomi are expected to offer Android 16 on newer models later in the year.

Stronger Security: Features like Factory Reset Protection Loop, Advanced Protection Mode (offline locking, USB port blocking), and scam detection help keep your device safe.
Gemini AI Assistant: Google Assistant is replaced by Gemini AI, delivering smarter, more personalized AI-powered help across your device.
How to Check If Your Phone Will Get Android 16
If you own a recent Pixel or flagship Samsung device, you’re at the front of the line for the update.
For other brands, check with your manufacturer for their official Android 16 rollout schedule.
Older or budget models may not be eligible, so verify compatibility before the update launches.
