Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL Announced with Tensor G5, New Telephoto Lens, and Bigger Batteries
Google has officially unveiled its next-generation flagships, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL, introducing a significant performance leap with the brand-new Tensor G5 chipset, improved camera hardware, and larger batteries. While the overall design remains familiar to last year’s lineup, Google has added fresh colour options—Moonstone (blue-grey), Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), and Jade (green)—making the series both powerful and stylish.
Display and Design
The Pixel 10 Pro sports a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,280 x 2,856 pixels, while the larger Pixel 10 Pro XL gets a 6.8-inch panel at 1,344 x 2,992 pixels. Both models deliver an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, reaching up to 3,300 nits peak brightness for vibrant outdoor visibility. Google also equips them with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for durability. On the front, a sharp 42MP selfie camera is placed under the punch-hole, supported by an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner for secure access.
Performance with Tensor G5
The highlight of the series is the new Tensor G5 processor, the first Google chipset produced by TSMC instead of Samsung, promising greater efficiency and performance stability. With a 34% faster CPU than the previous Tensor G4 and built-in Gemini Nano AI model support, the Pixel 10 Pro series finally rivals Snapdragon-powered flagships in raw power and AI-driven features. Paired with 16GB RAM and the Titan M2 security chip, the new Pixels are designed to handle multitasking, AI processing, and gaming with ease.
Camera Upgrades
Google’s Pixel series is known for its cameras, and the Pixel 10 Pro lineup doesn’t disappoint. The phones retain the 50MP primary sensor and 48MP ultrawide camera but introduce an all-new 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and up to 100x hybrid zoom. Video recording has also seen an upgrade, with support for 8K video at 30fps, ensuring sharper and more cinematic content creation.
Battery and Charging
Battery life also gets a significant boost. The Pixel 10 Pro houses a 4,870mAh battery with 30W wired charging, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL packs a 5,200mAh cell with 45W fast charging. Both phones introduce Qi 2 wireless charging with support for 15W (Pixel 10 Pro) and 25W (Pixel 10 Pro XL) via Pixelsnap, Google’s version of Apple’s MagSafe.
Software and Connectivity
Running on Android 16 with Google’s refreshed Material 3 Expressive UI, the Pixel 10 series promises a smooth and customizable software experience. Google has also committed to 7 years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop feature updates, ensuring long-term reliability. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Ultra-Wideband, Bluetooth 6, and full IP68 water and dust resistance.
Pricing and Availability
The Google Pixel 10 Pro starts at $999 / €1,099 / £999 / ₹109,999 for the 128GB model, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL begins at $1,199 / €1,299 / £1,199 / ₹124,999 for the 256GB variant. Pre-orders are live now, with official deliveries starting August 28.
With a faster chipset, bigger batteries, and an advanced telephoto zoom, the Pixel 10 Pro series is shaping up to be Google’s most competitive flagship release yet.
