Red Dead Redemption 2 Could Soon Launch for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2

Rockstar Games may soon bring Red Dead Redemption 2 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, according to recent leaks and rumours. Reports suggest that optimised next-gen editions could be revealed as early as this month, though Rockstar has yet to make an official announcement.

Next-Gen Red Dead Redemption 2 in August?

The speculation gained traction after a post by TREVOR4REAL on August 5 claimed a reliable source confirmed an August launch window for the PS5 and Xbox Series updates. These versions are expected to deliver faster load times, smoother performance, and enhanced visuals to take full advantage of next-gen hardware.

Initially released in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, the game is playable on newer consoles via backwards compatibility but has never received an actual dedicated upgrade—something fans have long awaited.

Switch 2 Version Rumoured

The same leak suggests a Nintendo Switch 2 edition could debut alongside the next-gen versions. Rumours about the Switch 2 port have persisted for months, further fuelled when one of the game’s voice actors hinted at the possibility during a livestream.

While no confirmation has come from Rockstar Games or Nintendo, industry insiders point out Rockstar’s history of making surprise announcements without much notice. If not in August, many expect the reveal by the end of the year.

Bottom line: Whether you’re a PS5, Xbox Series, or future Switch 2 gamer, the coming weeks might finally see Red Dead Redemption 2 return in an upgraded form worthy of its legacy.
